Gold Mop Falsecypress is a much-loved conifer that brings a wonderful pop of color to the landscape, but we’ve taken this fantastic evergreen favorite and kicked it up a notch. Our Gold Mop Falsecypress Oriental Pompom Topiary Tree still has the same glowing yellow color to bring cheer into the darkest days of winter, but now it also has a funky new shape! Our crafty tree-sculpting team at the Bower & Branch nursery have hand-pruned each of these specimens to have a fun, sporty form. The branches have been carefully thinned, and each limb ends in a fluffy “pompom” of foliage. This one’s definitely a winner. Yay, team!

The Story

Gold Map Falsecypress, a.k.a. Golden Mops, Mops, and Goldthread Falsecypress, is a selection of Sawara Falsecypress of Japan. Sawara Falsecypress is a towering, regal forest tree in its homeland that has given rise to many smaller, more manageable variations that are suitable for all kinds of landscapes both large and small. Gold Mop is one of those valuable scaled-down versions and is believed to have emerged from a European nursery in the 1950s or 60’s. With its dramatic yellow foliage and now with a cool new shape, our Gold Mop Falsecypress Oriental Pompom Topiary Tree is a stunning specimen with the Wow Factor to make your landscape stand out from the crowd.

The Details

Gold Mop Falsecypress has become a wildly popular plant in recent years, thanks to the dazzling punch of color it brings to the landscape. This Oriental Pompom Topiary Tree version is the one your neighbors will wish they had bought!
