The Story
Our Emerald Green Arborvitae Spiral Topiary Tree is a selection of Eastern Arborvitae, a remarkable native tree that has long been known as the “Tree of Life” (“Arbor” = “Tree” and “vitae” = “life”). One famous example of Eastern Arborvitae’s life-saving properties is the story of French explorer Jacques Cartier in 1535. He and his crew had sailed to what is now Quebec, but didn’t leave before winter struck and were stuck there for an especially brutal winter. The lack of vitamin C in their meager rations caused men to begin to die of scurvy, but they learned from the native Iroquois there that a tea of Eastern Arborvitae needles could bring immediate relief. The rest of the crew was saved.
The Details
You’ll probably prefer to stick to orange juice to get your vitamin C, but our Emerald Green Arborvitae Spiral Topiary Tree can certainly give your landscape some new life. Emerald Arborvitae holds its rich green color throughout the winter months (some Arbs turn a dull bronzy-green when it’s cold), giving your garden a vital dose of lively green color all year-round. This spiral accent tree brings energy to your landscape, too, with its swirly, dynamic shape.
