The Story

People have been ringing in the spring season with Snow Fountains® Weeping Cherry since 1985. That’s when Lake County Nursery of Ohio introduced the stellar specimen. Fast growth, a neat, compact habit, and those immaculate white flowers have made it win the hearts of many. In more recent times, Dr. Thomas Ranney, a horticulture professor at North Carolina State University, wondered if he could create a pink-flowering Snow Fountains®. He crossed it with a pink Cherry called First Lady and did just that. Pink Cascade Weeping Cherry was introduced in 2015. It is destined to be another of the great harbingers of spring.

The Details

Everybody loves Cherry Trees for their bountiful spring blossoms, but these are not merely one-hit wonders. Many of them delight us in fall as well with enchanting, colorful foliage. Pink Cascade Weeping Cherry is no exception. When days get chilly, it responds by turning a warm pumpkin-orange.

How to Grow

Since your Pink Cascade Weeping Cherry is going to be the showpiece of the neighborhood, you should learn how to keep it looking healthy and happy. It’s really not that complicated. Like all Cherry Trees, Pink Cascade loves to bask in full sun and gladly accepts regular irrigation, but it hates to sit around with “wet feet.” Irrigate with the Bower & Branch Elements™ Watering System and fertilize annually with Elements™ Fertilizer to help your tree establish a strong root system. Be sure to remove suckers from the base of the tree as soon as they appear, and if you see any branches sprouting from the trunk, nip ’em in the bud (literally).
